1. Gracious God, O Lord and Savior, / You have been so good to us; / You have given us a father / to instruct and nurture us. 2. When we fell in disobedience, / when we took a foolish path, / you forfended us in meekness, / and provoked us unto wrath. 3. Through the wisdom of the Spirit / you established us in faith. / With the power of the gospel / we were taught in love and grace. 4. Thank you Lord, for our dear father. / You gave him health and length of days. / When his life on earth was over, / you took him home to sing and praise. 5.
